While the series is only 8 years old, the annual battle for the Mudsock Trophy between the Fishers Tigers and Hamilton Southeastern Royals has become one of the fiercest rivalries in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference if not all of Central Indiana.
Tonight that rivalry continues in what is expected to be a sold-out Royals Stadium at Hamilton Southeastern High School when the 12th ranked Royals host the 7th ranked Tigers.
Hamilton Southeastern is smarting from a conference opening loss at Avon last week 31-10. The Royals committed four turnovers and were stymied by a tough Oriole defense. Royals senior quarterback Tyler Janney threw for 130 yards and rushed for Southeastern’s lone touchdown.
Fishers escaped a late comeback attempt from Noblesville to win their HCC opener 16-13. Senior running back Maurice Campbell rushed for 104 yards scoring one touchdown. It was Campbell’s third consecutive 100+ yard rushing game.
Join me tonight for all the action of Hamilton Southeastern football beginning with the pregame show at 6:50 PM followed by the kickoff between the Tigers and Royals for the Battle for the Mudsock at 7:00 PM on Audio Sports Online.
