4A – #11 Lawrence Central Bears (0-0) at 4A – #3 Brownsburg Bulldogs (0-0) – High School Basketball – 7:30 PM

Last season in his first as head coach of the Brownsburg Bulldogs, Steve Lynch guided the Bulldogs to a 10 win improvement over the previous season at 21-3 and a sectional championship. Brownsburg’s first since their 2007-2008 state championship season.

This season, expectations are high for the Bulldogs. Brownsburg begins the season ranked #3 in Class 4A in the AP poll and 5th in the Coaches poll. The Bulldogs return their leading scorer K.J. Walton who as a junior averaged 18.1 PPG, 3.7 RPG and 1.8 SPG. Walton begins his senior season with offers from Minnesota and Xavier already on the table but will wait until this spring to make his decision on where he will play basketball in college.

Senior Darrian Ringo also returns for the Dogs. Ringo averaged over 10 PPG, 4.7 APG and 3 SPG last season. Brownsburg will look to seniors Jordache Mavunga and Dalton Vachon to step up their games this season  along with juniors Aaron Head and Tyler Kirtz.

Last year, Brownsburg opened the season with perennial power Carmel. This year, the Bulldogs once again tip the season off against a Metropolitan Conference foe when they welcome the Bears of Lawrence Central to the Varsity Fieldhouse.

Lawrence Central is coming off of an 11-8 season last year but first year coach Al Gooden owns an impressive 392-228 overall record as he takes over the reins of the Bears program after three years at New Haven. Lawrence Central begins the season ranked 11th in Class 4A after finishing last season strong, capturing their second sectional title since 1998. Lawrence Central has their own Division I recruit in junior Kyle Guy. Guy committed to playing for Virginia last month and is an Indiana Mr. Basketball candidate having averaged almost 14 PPG as a sophomore last season.

The 2014-2015 season tips-off tonight with a battle of top 20 teams and you can listen to all the action on 1610 AM XRB in Brownsburg or watch on Audio Sports Online. Joining me tonight will be Chris Worley and Troy Wymer. The pregame show begins around 7:10 PM followed by the tip-off between the Bulldogs and Bears at around 7:30 PM.
