INDIANAPOLIS – The Indy Fuel, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks and the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs, announced their 2015-16 regular season schedule on Monday with the team’s “Opening Night” set for Friday, October 16th vs. the Toledo Walleye at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
The Fuel will play a 72-game schedule featuring 36 home games at Indiana Farmers Coliseum in 2015-16, including five home games vs. the Fuel’s in-state rivals, the Fort Wayne Komets, and five home games vs. the Evansville IceMen. Indy will play a total of 43 games within the newly formed Midwest Division, including 11 games vs. the Cincinnati Cyclones (five home, six away), 11 games vs. Evansville (five home, six away), 11 games vs. the Komets (five home, six away) and ten games vs. the Quad City Mallards (five home, five away).
In 2015-16, the Fuel will take on opponents from each of the ECHL’s six divisions except the East Division and will play just over three quarters of their games (55 of 72) within the Western Conference. Opponents the Fuel faced in 2014-15 that do not appear on Indy’s 2015-16 regular season schedule include the Allen Americans, Elmira Jackals, Reading Royals, Florida Everblades, Greenville Road Warriors and the Gwinnett Gladiators.
In addition to their new Division rivals from Quad City, the Fuel will square off against five new opponents in 2015-16, including one game vs. the Brampton Beast (Mar. 19th at home), two games vs. the Alaska Aces (Nov. 13th & 14th at home), one game vs. the Rapid City Rush (Jan. 15th at home), one game vs. the Utah Grizzlies (Mar. 4th at home) and two games vs. the Wichita Thunder (Nov. 25th on the road, Jan. 2nd at home).
The Fuel will play 22 Friday games in 2015-16 (13 at home, nine away), 23 Saturday games (12 at home, 11 away), 14 Sunday games (six home, eight away), six Thursday games (four home, two away), four Wednesday games (all away) and three games on Tuesdays (one home, two away). The Fuel’s home start times will remain the same for the 2015-16 season with games on Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 7:35 pm EST, games Monday through Thursday beginning at 7:05 pm EST and Sunday games set to begin at 3:05 pm EST with the lone exception being a 5:05 pm EST start time between the Fuel and Toledo on Sunday, Dec. 20th.
Notable dates on the Fuel’s 2015-16 regular season schedule include a New Year’s Eve/New Year’s Day home-and-home vs. Fort Wayne, a Thursday night home tilt vs. Toledo on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th) and a Good Friday home showdown vs. the Cincinnati Cyclones on March 25th. Indy’s 2015-16 regular season home schedule concludes with a Friday night clash vs. the Komets on April 8th before the season wraps with a rematch in Fort Wayne on Saturday, April 9th.
